Welcome to the Mediterranean Water Data portal
This portal provides useful hints to help Mediterranean countries in setting up Shared National Water Information Systems compatible with European standards namely the INSPIRE implementation rules on spatial information and the technical guidelines from the Water Information System for Europe -WISE-. In ensuring these compatibility recommendations, systems will also be online with the latest International standards, thus facilitating reporting towards international obligations.
It also provides a discovery service to search for existing datasets, sources of data and geographical layers. Visualisation services are also provided according to access rights as a result of the discovery process.
It demonstrates the integration of remote access to services and data as examples for building a Shared Environmental Information System -SEIS-: access to the EEA reporting obligation database (national level), metadata havesting between Inspire compliant catalogues, visualisation of geographical data sets by remote access to Web Map Services (EEA, JRC).
